The production of industrial and special lubricants, as well as related products in Zagreb originates from two companies - “Iskra” and the oil refinery “Olex”, which merged into a single company.
In 1927 in the then factory “Iskra”, began the industrial production of technical greases, so that year is considered the beginning of the main activity in the company INA MAZIVA d.o.o.
At that time, apart from Rijeka Refinery, only “Iskra” and “Olex” had been producing mineral lubricants. Due to the similarities in their production, and thus parallel development paths, the two companies merged in 1962 into a new company and took a new name - “ENOL-ISKRA”.
Production accomplishments have also spurred the next noteworthy merger. Only three months after the merger of the big three - Rijeka Refinery, Sisak Refinery and Naftaplin, the Zagreb Refinery was welcomed to the large oil business on 1 April 1964 under the name “ENOLIS”. A year later, the name was changed to INA Refinery Zagreb, under which it operated until 1 January 1997. For the next five years, until 1 April 2002, the company’s name was INA Maziva Zagreb.
In order to improve working and development conditions, from the spatially cramped plants in Klara and Heinzelova Street, own funds were used for the construction of new plants at today's location on Žitnjak, therefore all plants and other parts of the business system were fully operational in 1973.
At that time, INA Refinery Zagreb was one of the most modern specialized refineries in Europe. It presented a complete complex with plants for Refining (naphthenic oil and used oil) and Processing (finalization of finished products).
After a full 38 years of business activities within the national company INA, INA Maziva Zagreb was founded on 1 April 2002, and it has been operating independently as a subsidiary of the INA Group ever since.
In 2012 the production of motor oils was relocated from Rijeka to Zagreb and since then the complete production of Maziva-Zagreb d.o.o. has been taking place at the address Radnička cesta 175 in Zagreb.
On February 1, 2013, the company Maziva-Zagreb d.o.o. changes its name to INA MAZIVA d.o.o.
